Why I'm Starting A Newsletter
And why you might want to do the same...
I used to be a shitty writer.
Now, I am a little less shitty…
How?
Practice.
Practice.
Practice.
And that's why I'm writing this Newsletter.
My first writing practice was about 6 years ago, when I came across this Essay writing guide from Jordan Peterson, and this quote never left my mind:
“Writing extends your memory, facilitates editing, and clarifies your thinking.”
YES.
That resonated.
After all:
If I can become a better writer, and therefore, a better thinker, I can become a better human being.
Since then, I've been writing articles on Medium, mostly on topics related to psychology, philosophy, and every other personal development topic.
Still, writing was never a weekly habit for me.
It's been more sporadic.
For this reason, I haven't been writing as much as I would have liked.
So, I haven't developed as a human being as much.
Hopefully, this weekly newsletter is about to change that…
Now,
Why is the newsletter called “Digital Discipline = Freedom”?
Digital Discipline is a framework I've developed and defined as:
“The ability to break free from information overwhelm and digital distractions, and use the internet as a tool for personal growth.”
The practice of writing is part of developing this freedom.
After all:
“Writing is a great skill to learn because it pairs with any other skill or interest.
If you can write, you can do whatever you want and distribute the value you discover from those pursuits.”
If you can write well about something you care about and share your knowledge with others, it's a win for everybody.
You win - as you're developing and clarifying your thinking.
And everybody else wins - because they can learn from your specific knowledge and expertise.
You're sharing your unique perspective on a topic with the world to add to the collective body of wisdom available on the internet.
How cool is that?!
That's why I'm starting this newsletter.
To practice that.
So,
Stop reading.
Stop being selfish.
And start a newsletter.
Share your wisdom with the world.
Consume For Growth
Every week, I'm sharing pieces of online content in the form of Blogs, YouTube Videos, Tweets, or Podcasts that I find worth sharing.
Here's this week's list:
